I-69/TTC (Northeast Texas to Mexico)

DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT

Tier One Draft Environmental Impact Statement

The I-69/Trans-Texas Corridor (I-69/TTC) Tier One Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been released for public review and comment. The document identifies a recommended preferred new location corridor alternative for the I-69/TTC Project. If approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the recommended preferred corridor alternative and existing/planned transportation facilities would together serve as the new study areas for future Tier Two environmental studies for an I-69/TTC facility.

The DEIS also addresses the purpose and need, the alternatives considered during Tier One, the affected environment, the potential for environmental effects, and public input. The DEIS is an official document that must be approved by the FHWA.

Federal approval of the DEIS simply allows TxDOT to hold public hearings on the DEIS. Final federal approval is subject to public comments on the DEIS. The DEIS is not the final report on the I-69/TTC Project and does not set the final alignment for the project. No property acquisition or construction will occur as a result of the Tier One DEIS.
